Operating Systems supported

Mac OSX - 10.4 to 10.4.10, Intel and PPC platforms

Linux - x86 CPUs only, tested on the following distributions (but it will probably work on many others as well)

  • Debian 3.1 (kernel: 2.4.27)
  • Fedora 5 (kernel: 2.6.15)
  • Fedora 7 (kernel: 2.6.21)
  • Suse 10 (kernel: 2.6.13)
  • Ubuntu 6.06 (kernel: 2.6.15) & Ubuntu 7.10 (Kernel 2.6.22)
  • Note: There are known issues with some distros the Linux auto-run function.

 Windows XP, 2000, 2003, Vista (32bit and 64bit)

RAM

128MB recommended minimum however this will vary depending on what you are doing. FlyingAnt server itself uses very little memory (<5MB). The memory use will increase when performing a search, this increase can be significant, but temporary, in the case of large indexes.

CPU

Pentium 100Mhz recommended minimum. FlyingAnt uses very little CPU resources, however the Search functionality and Web browser itself may run slowly on such an old CPU.

Zoom releases

You need the Zoom search software to index the content on your CD. FlyingAnt release V1.0 build 1005 and above are compatible with V6 of Zoom. FlyingAnt aersions 1.0 build 1004 and below and compatible with V5 of Zoom.
