  • software updating

    hi

i love the great work u do on updating
but its goin so fast that i cant keep track of it really

are there plans of an auto-update feature, or an update-avaible-check in the (near) future of the program?
If i think as i thought, i will do as i did and if i do what i did i will think as i thought....

The software is actually pretty stable now. I completely understand however that you could form another opinion by looking at the What's new page,
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/whatsnew.html

Almost all the changes we are doing now are to deal with rare issues that only pop up when there is a specific combination of unusual events. So most users don't need the latest patch release becuase the core functionality is stable.

However an auto-update feature would definitely have some use. But we would have no plans for it in the short term.

      Software Upgrades

Are software upgrades included in the purchase price? Or would I have to re-purchase the software every time a major upgrade is released?

I think that wnoordhoek is referring to the minor releases. He customises his version of the code (I know as I've copied some of his adjustments he posted here in the forum) and each version means moving/retesting the customisation.

For example I have got round to 4.0(16) as it means moving the customisations from 4.0(15).

What it does teach you is to use remark lines in the code a lot, to change the default script names in order to prevent them being overwritten by upgrades, and to measure the list changes in each release on a 'must have' versus 'when time allows basis'.

All minor upgrades are free. For example V4.0 to V4.1 will be free.

Major upgrades are free for 6 months after a purchase. The cost of a major upgrade, after 6 months, is 50% of the retail price (if you choose to purchase the upgrade).

If you want to see how often we have been doing major and minor releases refer to these pages,
          http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/whatsnew.html
          http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/oldversionhistory.html

If you have V3 of the software and need to upgrade to the latest version, see this page,
