  • Help for zoom_descriptions.js

We are using version 5.0 of the zoom search engine to create a CD distribution of our web site. The staff that did this last year is not available for consultation, so we need some help understanding how Zoom Search is working. Last year they used version 4.x.

There are two files in our product that are missing when compared to the CD from last year: zoom_descriptions.js and zoom_titles.js. The former contains the first 150 characters of each page, the latter is the html title tag. We are not sure how these files were created, but when we attempted to manually create them, it does not seem to work. The publisher is upset that the descriptions aren't as nice as last year...

Is there a setting, configuration or command we need to run to create these files? Please help -- we're desperate! TIA

The files that make up a set of Zoom index files has changed between V4 and V5. Some files are no longer required nor generated.

The title and page descriptions are now contained in the zoom_pageinfo.js file.

The set of files required for the Javascript search option is now,
    zoom_pageinfo.js, zoom_index.js, settings.js, search.js, search.html

thanks for the quick response - this really helped us out. You may want to update the documentation as it still refers to these files.

You're right, we are still referring to these files in our documentation. Sorry about that. We'll fix this up in the next update.
