Performance hit using categories?

Hi,

Could you tell me if there's much of a performance hit when using categories with the cgi version of the search script? I have an index with many sites in it and would like to be able to offer users the ability to filter their searches to specific sites (i.e. one category per site).

The performance difference with or without categories should be so small that you don't notice it. Probably just a few millseconds.
