Recently bought Zoom Search. Works just great, and returns search results in a stunningly quick way. We were interested, therefore, in MasterNode so downloaded test version. It works fine in as much as it can successfully test the slave nodes we have set up and generate the necessary files. But when we upload the 3 generated files (search.cgi, settings.mnbat and search_template.html) to our server (in binary!) the cgi script returns Error 500. We have tried everything CHMOd etc etc but still we can't get it to work.
We have two quite high powered dedicated servers running Apache under Linux and tried the MasterNode on both.
Reading the blurb is it Linux that is the problem here?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Best wishes
Hi Mike,
The "MasterNode Aggregator" (which is the server that will be retrieving the search feeds from the various slave servers) currently needs to be a Windows machine (see "System Requirements" sidebox here (http://www.wrensoft.com/masternode/)). This is because the binary CGI created by the MasterNode ControlPanel is currently only available for Windows.
The Slave Machines (which effectively will be hosting the Zoom search CGI) can be Linux or BSD servers however.
As our primary development platform is Windows, this beta release has been Windows centric, and that is why the Aggregator CGI is currently only available for Windows. We do have plans to port the CGI to other platforms in the future, but this would still be several weeks away.
If you have access to a Windows server, we would recommend using this as your Aggregator for testing purposes, so you can try out the system for the moment. If you find the MasterNode solution suitable for your use after testing, and you wish to purchase the product with a Linux-based aggregator CGI, please contact us (http://www.wrensoft.com/contactus.html) and we can try to deliver a Linux CGI sooner.

Hi Raymond,
Thanks for the quick reply, much appreciated.
Understand now!! (We should have read the spec. fully!! ;) ) We will have a go at testing on a Windows server. Good news that you have plans to port the CGI to other platforms in the future.
Keep up the good work.
Best wishes,
MikeH
