ok, I figured it out myself. I'll be using the asp version and utilizing iframe to make it happen. My test page I created works great this way. :)

Glad to hear you've figured it out. But as a FYI, the layout in the example given doesn't require iframes or any special method. You may simply need to move the placement of the ZOOMSEARCH placeholder, that determines where the search results will appear within the layout of your search template. This is explained in detail in chapter 6, "How do I customize the look of my search page?", of the Users Guide (http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/usersguide.html).
