View Full Version : Positioning search box in frontpage

I am brand new at using Zoom. I am currently using Frontpage 2003 to manage my website. I use the template function in Frontpage for the layout of my site. I attached the template to my search_template.html page. Now when you view the search.php page the text is in the body of the template but the search box is under the template (go to http://www.scrapbookingstudio.com/Search/search.php ) to see what I mean. I have tried to reposition the line in the code within the editable regions- it the hope that this would move the search, without any luck. Hoping someone can offer some advise.

Yes, the solution is to place the tag where you want the form and search result to appear. So you are attempting to do the right thing.

I had a look at the your search_template file here,
http://www.scrapbookingstudio.com/Search/search_template.html

and found that it didn't contain the tag at all. So this is the problem.

So maybe you have accidentally removed the tag? I think Frontpage may also have some functions that "optimize" the page, which can remove comments. By check out that possibility if you can't find a better explanation.

Dear David

Thanks for your reply. The tag is still there on its own line with the other code that Zoom generated (in between the code from the Frontpage template). I checked both in Frontpage and Notepad. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I checked again. The is definitely missing from your page.

Goto your page on the web,
http://www.scrapbookingstudio.com/Search/search_template.html

then right click on the page and select view source. You will see that there is no tag.

Hi aussiemidwife,

Did you ever get it working?

I also use FP 2003 w/theme but don't know how to get the search field to appear inside the text area of the theme on the search.php page.

My search page is http://www.bigislandforum.org/teams/search.php I have the theme's meta tags above the <title>

FYI: Your URL http://www.scrapbookingstudio.com/Search/search_template.html was not working this evening 7/12/05 2303 hrs.
Thanks,

Kerry

Please disregard.

I'm not sure how I did it but it's working fine now. It might have had something to do with cached pages not allowing me to see Published corrections/changes. That, and the fact that FP Publish was overwriting Zoom's configurations/index that I had FTP'd to the server. I have since then selected the Zoom files on my localhost to "Do not publish."

All's well.

Thanks,

Kerry
