PDF docs display as MSWord file type in search results

I have selected both pdf, MS Word, and MS Excel plugins for my indexing. When the search results are displayed, pdf docs are listed as ".doc" files. The link below the description correctly shows the .pdf extension, and correctly opens the pdf file.

Any idea why it sees these as .doc files in the result line? Any solution?

I see this a lot. I believe its because the pdf was generated from a word doc and its an attribute of. good question.

The PDF files probably have a file name (ending in .DOC) as their meta title. See this old post for details (http://www.wrensoft.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1336).

Thank you for your assistance. Your answer makes perfect sense, and we will avoid converting directly from Word in the future.
