Customizing search button

How do I customize the zoom_searchbutton using an image? I read the tutorial but it's really not helping. I want to use a different image from the one in the tutorial, which I have saved. Where do you save this and how do you insert it in javascript using dreamweaver cs4. I fairly familar with Dreamweaver and CSS but this is kind of out of my league.
