Hi,
I am trialling the Wrensoft Zoom search engine before I pruchase it, however it seems to be missing some results when i p[erform a search.
For example, when i go to my site in development here: http://shanhard.pointclark.net/imtrade/search.php and search for 'glyphosate' it only returns two results. I know there are at least four results.
This is a great product, and if I can work out why i am having this problem, and then fix it i will certainly be purchasing it.
Thanks in advance,
Shanhard

We are happy to try and help but the link you provided is broken.
http://shanhard.pointclark.net/imtrade/search.php
gives an error, The requested URL /imtrade/search.php was not found on this server.
and even the URL,
http://shanhard.pointclark.net/
gives a 404 - page not found error.
If the search is not finding all the pages you think it should, the first step is to make sure that the missing pages were actually indexed by looking in the Zoom log (the right hand part of the Zoom window).

Then also take a look at the following FAQs:
"Why are some of my pages being skipped in the indexer?":

"I am indexing my website with the spider mode but it is not finding all of the pages on my site":

Oops, sorry I used the incorrect URL, pls try this one:
http://shanhard.pointclark.net/imtrade/search/search.php
Glyphosate appears 3 times on this page: http://shanhard.pointclark.net/imtrade/cropProtectionHerbicides.htm
however the results only show one of these.
Any ideas?
When I search for "Glyphosate" on your search page, I get 5 results:
http://shanhard.pointclark.net/imtrade/search/search.php?zoom_query=Glyphosate+&zoom_per_page=10&zoom_and=0&zoom_sort=0
Perhaps what you are actually referring to, is the "Terms matched" number for a search result? In the case of the URL you mentioned (http://shanhard.pointclark.net/imtrade/cropProtectionHerbicides.htm), the search results say that it has only one term matched. This is correct.
You may have misunderstood what "Terms matched: 1" means. This refers to the fact that one of your search terms were matched (in this case, the word "glyphosphate"). This value does not indicate how many times that word was found on the page. The "Score" value however is affected by the number of times the word appears on the page (in addition to other factors we use to determine the relevancy of the page to your search query).
So to clarify, if you were searching, for example, "glyphosphate products", then pages where both of those words appear would be listed as having "Terms matched: 2". But pages where only one of the two words appear would be listed as "Terms matched: 1".

Also keep in mind that the spider may not be spidering your entire site. The trial version only indexes 50 pages and then stops - so check your indexing log and if a page you think should have the search term on it isn't showing up, make sure it was indexed.
And yes, "Terms Matched" refers to how many terms you entered in the search box, not how many times it found the word on a page. It doesn't display that info, but instead shows the score, which may or may not be useful to your visitors (but in general the idea is that the higher the score, the more relevant the results, since the score is based on both the number of search terms that appear on the page as well as the pre-weighting that you can set in the "Indexing Options" tab to give a boost in weight if a term is in the description, or the page title or something).
The free edition also only will index the first 100kb of a page, so if you have a longer page it may not find the rest of the terms to give it proper weight (although I don't know if that file size restriction affects keyword weighting - maybe someone at Wrensoft can clarify that point).

The Free Edition will only index files of 100 KB or less in size. It will not attempt to index a portion of a file which is larger than 100 KB - the entire file is simply skipped, and a warning message is displayed in the indexer log. This means that any pages which have been indexed here should be the entire page.

Thanks for your replies, the site is now live @ www.imtrade.com.au.
Is there any way to force the results page to list every result on the same page (using the glyphosate example, can i make it list all the instances of glyphosate on that page?)
Great product!
Regards,
Shanhard
Zoom only shows the first occurance of the search term in the context description. It will show multiple context descriptions if you have more than one search term entered, but you can not make it retrieve multiple context descriptions for a single search term.
