Synonyms

Guys, its taken me a while to get around to trying the new features of 4.2 which is naughty as I was one of the ones who asked for synonyms.

I've now used them and I have to say brilliant, a job very well done - now my US and UK users are speaking the same search language without knowing it (cool = spiffing = bonza :wink:).

Glad you've found the synonyms useful.

Just so you know - we've recently had some users who've tried to enter in cylical synonym entries, eg.

cool -> spiffing
spiffing -> cool

This is not necessary because the first entry already implies that 'spiffing' is equivalent to 'cool'. We've since found that the cylical/redundant synonym entry would in fact cause the current build of the Indexer (4.2.1002) to crash.

This will be fixed in the next build (4.2.1003) and the redundant synonym entry will be correctly ignored. But in the meantime, this is just a note for anyone who might be coming across the same problem, or wondering how to setup their synonyms correctly.
