  • Not indexing a site.

I've always been able to index two sites but since uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom V6 I can't get a site to be indexed.

The site that DOES get indexed is http://www.nonduality.com

The site that won't get indexed ("External site - does not match base URL) is
    http://www.nonduality.org

I start the spider from www.nonduality.com/ whose base URL is www.nonduality.com/

When I added www.nonduality.org, Zoom automatically listed www.nonduality.org as the base URL, so I kept it that way. However I did try using www.nonduality.com as the base URL for www.nonduality.org, and that didn't work.

I've tried indexing www.nonduality.org by itself without indexing any other site along with it, and I get the same message: "External site - does not match base URL"

Any thoughts on what's going on?

    Thank you.

    Jerry

You can specify multiple base URLs by placing a semicolon between them, so try a base URL like the following:

    "http://www.nonduality.com;http://www.nonduality.org" (without the quotes)

Thank you. Adding an additional base URL didn't help. What solved the problem was citing http://www.nonduality.org/ as http://nonduality.org, without the "www". Appreciate your response.

This depends on the links on your site. If you have absolute URLs (as opposed to relative URLs) where you link to your domain without the "www.", yet you try to spider the website with "www." then this will happen.

It is generally bad practice to have absolute URLs and/or inconsistent linking, there are other problems that this causes for your site.

For anyone else coming across this problem, another way to address this would be to have a base URL which includes all the variations of the same domain that you wish to index.

In other words -- the base URL is supposed to represent all the domains that you wish to consider as part of the same site. So in the above case, this should be:

        http://www.nonduality.org/;http://nonduality.org/
        --Ray
        Wrensoft Web Software
        Sydney, Australia
