    Default NEAR proximity operator?

Any plans, or a workaround, to use a NEAR proximity operator. eg. red NEAR/7 star. (where the proximity can be specified as a number of words or characters).

The AND operator is like NEAR without specifying the proximity.

If you store word offsets, it should be possible to calculate how NEAR two words are?

We only have an offset for the first several occurances of the word on each page. This would not be very effective in performing a proximity search (as we would need to check with each and every occurance of the word). So the short answer is no, we currently do not have any plans for adding proximity search functionality.
