  • searching accentuated characters

I have some accentuated text (désenfumage) to index.

If I set off the accent/diacritic option, when we look for désenfumage or desenfumage, we got matches. But the highlight option doesn't work.

If I set on the accent/diacritic option, when we look for désenfumage or desenfumage, no matches. The text is iso-8859-1 coded. And é is coded é

Is there any way to take care of accent, and to get search and highlight
    functionning?

It is known that the highlighting option may not highlight some accented characters when the accent insensitivity option is enabled. Namely when you search for a word in its accented form and the non-accented equivalent is found.

However, with the accent/diacritic insensitivity option enabled, you should be able to find the same matches when you search for either "désenfumage" or "desenfumage".

With accent/diacritic insensitivity turned off, you said you got matches for the two words - but were they the same matches?

If possible, perhaps you can give us a link to your search page so that we can better understand your problem.
