  • About indexing characters

    Hi, is it posible to index the site which in armenian ASCII, with keeping the charset in the .zdat files for the php version?

    in HTML code i use "ÈáݹáÝáõÙ ÁÝóóáÕ" characters but in .zdat files it's converted in UNICODE.

    Unfortunately the armenian has not ISO and I have the big problemm with printing the result.

    I have never heard of "Armenian ASCII", but I did some searching on the net and it seems that such a thing exists. Which is kind of funny as the AS in ASCII stands for "American Standard". So it is the Armenian American Standard

    Zoom supports a bunch of different ISO code pages (e.g. ISO-8859-7 Greek) and UTF-8.

    So I checked out a few Armenian web site to see what common practice is.
    http://www.president.am/
    charset=iso-8859-1 (English - Latin)

    http://www.undp.am/
    No charset

    http://www.internews.am/
    charset=windows-1252 (English)

    http://www.ysu.am/
    charset=iso-8859-1 (English - Latin)

    http://www.sci.am/
    charset=windows-1251 (Cyrillic charset but mostly English text)

    I fact I couldn't even find a single armenian web site that used armenian. So I coudn't test Zoom with armenian. They all use English or Russian (which are supported by Zoom). Which I find bizare. Does evenone in Armenia speak English so well that English is the main language on their web sites?

    Maybe the solution is for you to change to use UTF-8 which I assume supports Armenian characters?
