  • Search/highlighting part words

I have a site at http://www.galileomovement.com.au with Zoom set up. If I search for, say, 'introducing' I get results and the word is highlighted in the target document.

If I search for 'introduc' I get results but nothing is highlighted.

If I search for 'intro' there are no results at all.

Is this normal behaviour or have I done something wrong?

    This is normal behaviour.

It's worth emphasizing that the highlighting in question is the jump to highlighting JavaScript feature, and not the highlighting that occurs on the search results page.

As noted in the "Known Limitations" section of this page:
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/support...ht.html#limits

The "jump to highlighting" script cannot highlight words found via stemming, synonym or accent insensitivity. It is simply technically impractical to do so (for the script to have access to the stemming algorithm, or the synonym table, etc.) as it would make it not only slow to execute (and slow down each page of your site), but also difficult for you as the end user to add and maintain.

So in fewer words, when something is matched via synonyms, stemming (as "introducing" is equivilated to "intro" and "introduc"), etc., they will match on the search results page, but "jump to highlighting" script will not highlight all equivalent words.
