  • No files found to spider from on CMS Site

    Hello

I am (currently) using the free edition v6 to add search capabilities to a Content Managed Website. (This is installed on a Windows server 2008 with all service packs)

The pages have virtual page names and the site uses URL rewriting techinques.

I'ev set up the search and it all works fine except the first time. Everytime I go into the indexer application and just click Start Indexing I get the error - No Files found to spider from "http://serverort/Home.aspx". If I immedidately click the start indexing again it works. I've also tried to set up a scheduled task to re-index every hour. This isn;t working neither. I suspect it's a similar issue.

    Thanks

Maybe you can paste in the lines from the log just before and after the error.

Do you need to log into your site with a user name / password?

This error is often an indication of
    1) a network problem,
    2) the url being wrong (unlikely if it resolved itself just after)
    3) not being able to resolve the domain name
    4) an error on the server, not returning a page

Is the site public, if yes what is the URL, we can have a look at it.

      Hi

Thanks for the reply. I've solved this now by looking in the log. The web.config file was still directing the user to the login page even though there is a process to automatically log people in.

      thanks
