  • 2 Kinds of Results Linking

    Hi Again,

Here's something I'd like to do and wonder if it's possible.

    I've got two categories/match patterns:
    - Documents (350 of them) / 'C?-????-IAD' (filenames start with this), and
    - Webpages / '*.php,*.htm'.

I'd like links to open like this:
    - Documents - in a new window, and
    - Webpages - in the frame "mainframe".

Can I do this without being a php programmer (the platform used)? I know html/asp, but have to use php on the Unix web server.

    Thanks,
    Michele J. Jones, PMP

When you say "Documents" do you mean that they are non-HTML file types, such as MS Word .doc files, or Acrobat .pdf files?

If so, you should note that these file types usually open in a different application outside of the web browser, and whether they open in a new window or existing window may be dependent on your application settings for Word or Acrobat Reader.

If you are referring to opening a new browser window, with the document plugin loading within the browser, then this is possible to control from HTML, but you will need to modify the PHP script code to have this behaviour only enabled for PDF/DOC files or one category and not another.
