  • pdf, other file types open new window coding

I've read other posts where folks would like the ability to tell the search code to open pdf, Word, Excel and other non-html files in new browser windows when clicked in the search results. One user has written php code to insert into the search.php page. I'm trying to find out if this code is still applicable, and if so, where does one insert it (what line number) in this file.

    Thank you.

We would recommend that you do not modify the PHP script yourself if you are not very familiar with PHP scripting. Any changes you make may affect or break the functionality of the script, and we would not be able to debug this for you. So we would rather not offer line number drop-in code snippets (especially in this case, when it is contributed by a user and we didn't write it).

Having said all that, here's the old thread with the customizations posted:

And also, given that a fair number of people have requested this since then, we are planning to add support for this in V6.

Yes, this would be a feature I would certainly request and use.

I also see this as a very useful feature.
Is it implemented in version 6?

          I found it (version 6).

          Configure > Scan options
          | Plugin formats :
√ Open all plugin file formats (eg. PDF, DOC, etc.) in a new window
