  • Sitemap File Date Missing

    Thanks to this thread I solved some simple errors I was making when trying to create an XML sitemap. Unfortunately my xml sitemap does not contain the date field and I can't find help on that.

    Has anyone else had this problem or know what I am doing wrong? All my files come up as three lines and I am not using the Page Boost option.

    Here is an example of file data:

    <url>
    <loc>http://www.racinewideweb.com/</loc>
    </url>

    Your web server is not returning any Last-Modified date in the HTTP header. This means it is impossible for Zoom to determine the dates of the pages being indexed.

    You can examine the HTTP header returned by your server with this tool:
    http://web-sniffer.net/

    Try comparing the header for your site (http://www.racinewideweb.com/) with one that returns a Last-modified header, such as our site (http://www.wrensoft.com/).

    As your site is comprised of mostly PHP pages, you probably need to script your PHP pages to return a meaningful date where possible. A meta last-modified date is also supported (see chapter 7.7 in the Users Guide).
