  • Indexing zip and exe files

Ok, this may be something a little different. I currently use zoom to index our site for search, and it works great. Recently, however, I had an idea and wanted to see if/how it could be done.

The site I use Zoom for is for computer systems, and we have links on our site to download product drivers. What I was wondering, is if there is a way to create a search engine geared toward these files.

For example, say I have a driver for an intel video chip, v1000. So I name the file intel_v1000.zip or similar. Could I then proceed to index these sorts of files only for this particular search?

V6 of Zoom introduced a feature to index .ZIP files and their content. Each file stored within a ZIP file can be extracted/uncompressed and indexed independently.

You can also decide to index just the file names of .ZIP files and .EXE files in V6. But I am not 100% sure if this was in the old V5 release or not.
