Customize spelling suggestion or tell user of synonym replacment?

Hi,

I would like to customize spelling suggestions, or, if we use synonyms instead of suggestions, to tell the user we were searching for a synonym.

For example on our site, where we used to use the specialized term placeable, we now use the term token. If the user searches for placeable, I'd like instead to search for token (and perhaps even exclude old pages that use the old term!) and also to say 'Searching instead for token...'

Is this possible?

It isn't possible to tell the software than 'token' is the correct spelling for 'placeable'.

Using synonyms would seem to be the way to go. But with synonyms the word replacement automatically happens without any suggestion to the user.

Can you edit the HTML pages with the old term, and replace the word for the new term?

You could maybe add a recommended link that triggered on the old term, explaining to people they should use the new term. Or do some custom software development.
