  • Help on some required features at my website

    Hi everyone

I am these days evaluating the software. Before deciding on purchasing. I was asked to solve the following questions on your software.

    1. Do you have any statistics about how long is required to index about 100.000 or 1'000.000?
    2. The link for search results in the trial version is showing the URL only. Question is to know if this URL can show the title field in the LINK or the URL as such in it?
    3. Is it possible to assess and how is the ASP page to be configured regarding the thumbnail for search results for paid versions (this is not possible with trial versions)?
    4. When indexing a site the first time it is obvious that it scans all of the pages in the file system from a start point. Suppose that tomorrow we add a few pages more. We wonder if a reindexing involves all of the pages or it only indexes what it deems different from last time it was indexed? Does it have a date criteria for reindexing. In other words, could someone explain thoroughly how is indexing works?
    5. What is the meaning for search results ordering (by relevance or by date)?

    Q1:
There are some indexing speed numbers here,
    http://www.wrensoft.com/forum/showth...eed-benchmarks
But this was on old hardware with a slow connection. So you can expect better than the numbers in this old post.

There are also some more figures here,
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/support...rge_sites.html

    And some search benchmarks here,
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/benchmarks.html

    Q2:
The title is included when it is available.
If you don't see it, then your pages either don't have a title, or you have turned off the indexing of the title in the configuration.

    Q3:
This is possible in free software (up to 50 pages in any case). See this FAQ for setup details.
    http://www.wrensoft.com/zoom/support...ge_layout.html

    Q4:
By default all pages are indexed (and re-indexed) each run.
But there are incrmental indexing options. These are under the "Index" menu. There are also command line options.

    Q5.
It means that search results can be ordered by relevance to the search term(s) or by their date.

Another possibility is you have a <title> tag outside of your <head>...</head> section. This is a somewhat common mistake. It's not acceptable by HTML standards.

Make sure also that titles are not only being indexed, but also enabled to be displayed in the results ("Configure"->"Results Layout"->"Title of page"). Changing these settings need to be re-indexed for it to take effect.
