  • Skip Options question.

    Hello,

I am using Zoom Search in spider mode. In the Skip Options list I always used / (forward slash) for folders and it always worked. Help file shows \ (back slash). Which slash do I have to use / or \ to be safe?

    Thanks.

In spider mode use forward slash / to match up with the URLs

I have another question about Skip Options.

Help file says: "Note that file names and paths are case sensitive".
Let's say, on hard disk on the web server in Windows Explorer folder name is

        D:\inetpub\wwwroot\sitename\Admin

But on the web page link was typed by web designer this way:

        http://rootsite/sitename/admin

What Zoom Indexer is going to do? Is it going to skip Admin folder, or is it going to go inside and crawl admin folder because it is lower case in the link?

File path doesn't matter in spider mode.

          Only the URL is important.

So, I assume it would be safe way to put folder and file names in the list like that:

            /Admin/
            /admin/
            admin
            Admin

              Yes, you can do that.

It is case sensitive because all Linux and Unix hosts are case sensitive.
