  • V7007 crashes but not V7004 !?

    Hello

I run V7 in offline mode with javascript output.

No problem with V7004, but with V7007 at each indexation the program crashes. I repeated install/deinstall couple of times... If I reinstall V7004, I don't get any crash anymore...

At crash time, I get these errors in the application log:

Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zoom Search Engine 7.0\ZoomIndexer.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Curiously the module version in error message is said "7.0.1004"... but the help screen said 1007...

Does any one have an idea?

    Thanks for help

Can you e-mail us your .zcfg configuration file?

It may be difficult to reproduce the crash since you are indexing in Offline Mode, and the files are on your hard drive (which means we can't index the same content). But we can take a look nonetheless.

    Can you also:
    1) Describe when the crash happens, is it before you hit "Start indexing", or soon after you click "Start indexing", or deep into indexing (e.g. 30 minutes in), or at the end of indexing, etc.
    2) Save the index log of the crash so we can see which file it is indexing when the crash occurs. You can specify this under "Configure"->"Index log"->"Save index log to file" (also select Detailed log mode and append date and time to filename if you wish to make multiple logs).

If it always crashes when indexing one particular file, include this file in your email, so we can try to reproduce the crash.

OK I will do it and proceed as you say...

By the way, it happens after about a few minutes having hit the start indexing button...
I don't think it happens on the same file... but I will check...

      Thanks

        Hello

I come back a few later as I was in mission in Africa. Sorry for the delay . Now I have to urgently update the data.

I tested it with the last version (1012b) and I have still the same problem: crash when indexing in offline mode with javascript output. I don't have the problem with version 1004 and I had not with version 6.x...

I tested it on another laptop (x86) instead of (amd64) and I have the same problem.

I observed the files on which the error happens:
        1) it is always xls files
        2) if I begin a new session, it crashes on the same xls file
        3) if suppress the concerned xls file, it crashes on an other xls file
        4) if I remove xls files from the scope of indexing, then indexing goes to the end without any problem
        5) xlsx files are indexed without problem.
        6) xls files crashing the engine have nothing special; I tried to resave them without any change at the end. Some files are even simple lists.

I captured 2 kind of errors in the application log:

        most frequent one:

        Source: Application Error

Sent email response as well. But a forum update:

Replicated the crash with the set of XLS files provided. Haven't seen this problem before with other sets of XLS files, may have something to do with creation method?

Patched for next release (V7 build 1013) so it will no longer crash but also pursuing further investigation regarding files for hopefully better handling of this particular file format quirk.
